There is an opening in the ash cloud over Finland on Monday 19 April, which makes it possible to ease the restrictions of air traffic. Tampere-Pirkkala and Turku airports will be opened for traffic today from midday to 6 pm.
Terminal and air navigation services at these airports are provided by Finavia.
The opening in the ash plume also allows overflights of southern Finland. According to current forecasts, the ash cloud will nevertheless stay over the most southern part of Finland on Monday, which means that Helsinki-Vantaa Airport remains closed.
The Finnish Transport Safety Agency has decided to allow flights under visual flights rules (VFR) under the height of 3000 ft (900 meters) in whole Finland until further notice.
More information on the situation and any changes in the restrictions will be provided on Monday 19 April at
2 pm.
