Mr Pekka Henttu, Master of Science in Technology, has been appointed as Director General for the Aviation Sector of the Finnish Transport Safety Agency (Trafi).
The appointment covers the next five-year period starting from 1 May 2011. The Director General is responsible for development work and efficient operations in his sector, and represents Trafi in international co-operation within the field. In addition, he is involved in managing the whole Agency and developing the transport system and organisation as a member of Trafi's Management Board.
The Director General of the Aviation Sector also acts as the Director General of Civil Aviation for Finland.
Pekka Henttu has previously acted as Director for the Flight Operations Department in Trafi. In his duties, he has gained an extensive knowledge of the aviation sector in Finland and participated in the activities of international aviation organisations.
Before his employment at Trafi, Pekka Henttu worked for the Finnish national airline Finnair e.g. as the head of regulatory issues in the flight operations sector and as Technical Chief Pilot in the flight department. He is also a trained airline transport pilot.
