Air traffic controllers and flight information service officers

Licences for air traffic controllers and student air traffic controllers as well as certificates of competence for flight information service officers are issued by the Finnish Transport Safety Agency (Trafi).

Before a student air traffic controller may start the on-the-job training section of the air traffic controller course, he/she needs a student air traffic controller licence. The application is submitted to Trafi using the same form as for an air traffic controller's licence.

Once the student has successfully completed his/her air traffic controller training, Trafi issues an air traffic controller’s licence. Likewise, a FISO certificate of competence is issued by Trafi once the student has successfully completed his/her flight information service officer training.
