Reporting of accidents, serious incidents and occurrences

Civil aviation accidents, serious incidents and occurrences  within the Finnish territory must be reported in accordance with aviation regulation GEN M1–4. The regulation also applies to the use of Finnish aircraft outside Finland or based on an Air Operator Certificate issued in Finland.

The report may be submitted through our online service or in paper, by filling in and printing out the pdf form.

The data reported (with the exception of any personal data) are stored in the European Commission’s Eccairs system, which is used to monitor trends in aviation safety. The reports are passed on to the Accident Investigation Board of Finland for information.

The information obtained from the reports is used for improving aviation safety. Please describe the incident in detail so that the recipient can form a clear picture of what happened and make thorough safety analyses.

Make sure that the report contains the following information: what happened, what the consequences were, estimated cause of the incident and contributing factors, description of weather conditions. If the incident occurred during a flight, carefully complete the field "Description of the flight".
