Change of address or name

• Post office box and poste restante addresses
• Change of address of an estate of an individual who is now deceased

A natural person does not need to separately issue a registration notification of a change of address because the information will automatically be transferred from the population register to the Vehicular and Driver Data Register. A new registration certificate will not be delivered after a change of address. If the customer wishes, he/she may have a new registration certificate subject to a charge printed at an inspection station. At the same time, the notification part and technical part of the registration certificate already issued can be returned.

Post office box and poste restante addresses

A natural person may have a post office box or poste restante address entered in the Vehicular and Driver Data Register if they do not have any other address. Trafi will not be automatically notified if the address of a natural person is changed into a post office box or poste restante address. In such a case, the customer must submit their new address to Trafi by phone or e-mail.

Change of address of an estate of an individual who is now deceased

Trafi will not automatically receive a notification about the change of address for an estate of an individual who is deceased. A party of the estate may submit the new address to Trafi by phone or e-mail.

Name change of a natural person

A natural person does not need to issue a separate notification of a name change. The new name will automatically be transferred from the population register to the Vehicular and Driver Data Register. A new registration certificate will not be delivered after a name change. If the customer wishes, he/she may have a new registration certificate subject to a charge printed at an inspection site. At the same time, the notification part and technical part of the registration certificate already issued can be returned.

Change of address of a company

A company must submit a change of address in writing.
The notification may be done by using the form Change of address of a company/association. A new registration certificate will not be printed for changes of address made at Trafi.

The notification may also be issued by using the notification part of the vehicle’s registration certificate (Part II) at an inspection site, in which case a new registration certificate subject to a charge will also be printed.

Name change of a company

A company must issue a separate notification of the change of the company name by using the notification part and the technical part of the registration certificate. When the new name of a company is given, an account of the name change (e.g. an extract from the Trade Register) must also be submitted. The notification is issued at an inspection site. A new registration certificate subject to a charge is printed after the change of name.
