The Finnish Transport Safety Agency supervises the observance of the Pilotage Act and any provisions issued under it.
The Agency is also responsible for any pilotage duties which under the Pilotage Act (940/2003) or the Act on the State Pilotage Enterprise (938/2003) have not been assigned to the State Pilotage Enterprise (FinnPilot).
Thus the Agency grants
Regulations on mandatory pilotage areas, pilotage distances and pilot boarding positions have been published in FMA Bulletin 13/23.12.2008.
The unit responsible for the duties mentioned above is the Competent Pilotage Authority.

National rules and regulations on deep-sea pilotage have been published in FMA Bulletin 3/1.1.1982 (available in Finnish and Swedish only). The deep sea pilotage tariff is included in FMA Bulletin 4/25.2.2002.

IMO has issued Resolution A.889(21) on pilot transfer arrangements and Resolution A.960(23) recommendations on training and certification and on operational procedures for maritime pilots other than deep-sea pilots.
