The Finnish Transport Safety Agency (Trafi) is the supervisory body in Finland which issues the approvals and certificates required for pilot training and related theoretical knowledge instruction. Trafi also grants approvals for the training of other civil aviation professionals, such as aircraft maintenance staff, air traffic controllers and security screeners. The Agency makes regular inspections to monitor the operation of the training organisations.
By overseeing the organisation, Trafi works to safeguard the student's best interests. Before an approval is granted, the Agency makes sure that the training is appropriate, safe and meets the basic requirements specified for the operation. The instructors, facilities, equipment and training programmes are all considered.
